Problem

  • I have over a dozen topics that remain red after I read them instead of turning grey, which makes them appear as not being read. (Is that too many red/reads lol) What am I doing wrong?

Perhaps you are just hitting your browser's "back" button instead of selecting "Back to Topics" below the thread.

  • I've discovered that if you get to a thread by clicking under the latest or last post column, it doesn't turn the topic gray.
I'm sure that will be one of the fixes they make when the boards are updated after the first of the year.

  • Even this topic is still red. I have tried the following:
-I have entered the topic by hitting on the envelop
-I have entered by hitting on the topic title
    - I have exited the topic by hitting return to topics (both on top & bottom)
    - I have exited by hitting on Next topic and Previous topic
    - I have signed out and back in

    Still red.

  • I've called out the big guns. I'm sure they'll have an answer soon.

  • I'm no expert, but it looks to me like the link color (more specifically visited links versus non visited links) is determined by your browser. If you have history turned off, or have it set to "Delete history on exit" it will be red when you come back. If you don't specifically click on a link, for example if you use previous or next, then the link will be red because you haven't specifically clicked on the link.

basically it looks like visited links aren't related to your account. I use a couple of browsers and the colors are a useless.

I think this is why there is no "mark all topics read" button.

  • I believe some of these symptoms described are caused by a hardware issue we have been working on this week. Basically if you view a post on one server, it will mark as read, but if you then hit the page on another server, there's a chance they didn't sync up yet so the topic will appear as unread.

  • Started working correctly today. Easy come , easy go. Now I just have to go into all of the red topic that I have already red to turn them to grey. Thanks eveyone.

Pat, would it be possible to incorporate a "Mark all read" button that is typically found on message boards? Would make all of this a lot easier.

  • And, apparently, if you log out (or clean your cache and cookies) and then log back in, everything changes back to red. fail

Mine isn't. But I do have a problem of some threads I've already read remaining red, including threads I just created.

Anybody else? On mobile, my topic colors never change regardless of posting, starting new topics, views, anything.

Mine change, but I have requested some tech help to answer the issue.

Boards are a big priority of ours in 2013. We're in the process of re-writing code for various parts of the site. We have already done articles and player database, but boards is something we'll start in the next few months. Once we re-write the code, it will allow us to do more board features. We wanted to do the re-write now so we're set up to do things down the road versus building on the old platform only to have to re-write it later.

Sounds good. I don't know if you will come back to the board to actually see this post, but are there plans to add a "Delete" option if we want to delete a post? Or text manipulations (color, bold, italics, underline, etc)?
