I'm intrigued by Lang. He's currently a head coach in Japan, but the 29th overall pick in the 1994 NBA Draft, won two NC's at Duke in the early 90's. He's one of those under the radar, possibly high-reward guys.
Class of '14. Go Jags! South in your Mouth!
Why you gotta go and bust my Pearl bubble?
Lang's dad was a PE coach at Baker while Antonio was doing his thing at Duke. Always thought that was super cool. I remember us having a sub so Coach Lang could go watch him in the Final Four.
Today I’ll take any kind of passion. Just care! Complain, moan, groan, or call for somebody’s head. CARE !! - OJ
I totally wasn't kidding. Didn't know the show cause thing though. Come on down in 2014!
Coach Lang has a son who is a junior at McGill that's a good player.
I doubt we could out pay a Japanese pro league, but being here for his son's college career and potentially coaching him might be decent incentive.
Lsu did not come here last year..
I'm all for getting Antonio involved at USA. I was a huge Duke fan when I was little and then when I was in high school I had a chance to meet him several times when he would come in to where I worked. Nicest guy in the world. I can't believe his kid is in high school. He was about 2 or 3 last time I saw him. Man I'm getting old.
He has 2 sons the junior at mcgill-toolen is 6'5 or 6'6 that can shoot the 3. His other son is in the 8th grade and is 6'4. Not sure he is as good a basketball prodigy.
TJ needs to hit the weight room and get stronger..He has a very fluid stroke and knows how to score..He needs to add atleast 20lbs before college..
You're right it was 2 years ago.
BIR I remember this too! Loved having Coach Lang as a PE coach. Antonio and those Duke teams were the reason I became interested in college bball as a kid. I would love to have Antonio involved with the South program somehow.
According to the all-knowing Wikipedia, the league that AL coaches in (JBL) is the second-tier league in Japan (behind the bjL).
That's me - dream crusher.
i think we'll have a lot of good candidates. Roberson and Rubit will be seniors and Ammons a junior next year. Any coach coming in will have a really good core for his first season.
I still think Eric Musselman is a guy who should get a call. Check out his coaching record:
NBA - D League: 77-30
He's been called one of the best talent developers in the professional ranks. Jeremy Lin gives him a ton of credit for helping him get to the NBA.
He did some college broadcasting a couple of years ago and now is in Arizona State.
At first I did not remember Lsu coming here but I do now..Was not trying to be a jerk..
Mussleman would make me very happy..One of his strenths is his ability to adapt to his talent and make ingame adjustments, very high IQ coach..I would hire him in a heartbeat..
How about Bobby Champagne? He has been the head coach at UNA for the past few years, took one of his UNA teams to the elite 8, and is off to another good start this year. He played with me for CRA during CRA's early years and spent several years as an assistant at the D1 level for some big name schools.
Champagne has been mentioned, and Erdmann has history with him so it makes sense to think about. Didn't Erdmann hire him at UNA?
Yes, but Champagne is unknown to people/me and gives me zero excitement.
Yes, I believe Erdmann did hire him.
I'm not a fan of picking up guys simply because you know them. I was impressed with the Winkworth hiring for women's soccer, but the wind was taken out of my sails a bit when I learned the DJE had worked with him at UNA. We need new guys to program. Someone that bring a new image and attitude.
Keep in mind, I'm not razzing DJE in any way. He is a friend of mine and I respect everything he has done and continues to do for the program. I'm sure he'll find a great coach for the program.

Demetric Bennett is available
Suggestion: Otis Hughley
Was the best recruiter in the state of Alabama while at Leflore highschool.
Experience as baby sitter. Hired by Clippers to meet D Cousins every need.
Interesting. Former USA assistant, former Ronnie Arrow player in JUCO. He's had success at other schools also. I'm a little surprised he hasn't been brought in before.
Thats nearly as good a resume as a guy can have without prior head coaching experience.
Put him on the list.
