I am so over all of this.
Today I’ll take any kind of passion. Just care! Complain, moan, groan, or call for somebody’s head. CARE !! - OJ
According to NBC Sports, the 7 Catholic Schools voted to excommunicate themselves from the Big East and expressed hope that they would be resurrected in a new, glorious conference where only basketball will be played in heaven. This will now open the door for Yeshiva University to petition the the Big East to be considered for admission. Oh, wait, Yeshiva is only a Div. III school.
Its, Marquette, Villanova and DePaul -- released a statement on Saturday afternoon saying as much.
I am too. Whatever happens, happens. It's entertaining and even kind of amusing if you can get past the worrying where you land.
Fresno State and UNLV in the Big East? Sure, why not. Everything else has made sense up to this point.
Big East commissioner Mike Aresco scrambling to keep viable football league alive.
Class of '14. Go Jags! South in your Mouth!
Today, NBC Sports is reporting that Boise State has had a change of heart and will NOT be joining the Big East but will instead remain in the Mountain West (which I thought was nonexistant).
Cue the funeral dirge and warm up the fat lady members of the Big East announced their intention to leave the beleaguered conference.
Could this be the beginning of sanity for all of this ??
You may be thinking of the WAC. They are the conference that is essentially dissolving with all the shuffling.
IT'S OUR TIME! GO JAGS!!
JagZ, You are correct, sir
I think the Jags should take a look at joining the
BIG SOUTHEASTERN ATLANTIC PACIFIC USA MID-MOUNTAIN BELT 10-12-14 ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
The TV rights alone have to be worth something!
Latest rumor from ESPN:
"Faster horses, Younger women, Older whiskey, More money"
I wish they would leave ConferenceUSA alone so ConferenceUSA will leave the Sun Belt alone.
Let's Face It....Before long Conference USA will be another version of the Sun Belt....I am a graduate of South and have observed the Athletic Progression, we waited to long for football and are barely D1 in other sports. Joe G. knew this was coming and tried to prepare the athletic program but the power brokers in charge would not listen. South will be stuck in the Sun Belt without any recognizable names....

Really? Are you sure you're not getting confused with "Southern Alabama". I'd say we're a Grade A certified mid-major D-1 school.

No, I am not confused or mixed up and I have no idea who Southern Alabama is...being certified and recognized by performance are two different things. New Orleans was once in the Sun Belt and are now D3. My point is South has let time pass it by...they should not be in a conference with the likes of a Georgia State, Georgia Southern and possibly a Appl State etc...
Actually, New Orleans is staying in D1 and going to the Southland Conference. They will be adding football at the FCS level.
It's true, we were late. But it's not too late, because when the Jags will win and will get noticed. Trash our conference if you must, but we are not "barely" D1. There are many conferences in D1 with less stature.
I think the Big East will eventually lose Cincy and UConn, so Rice, Tulsa, USM and UMass will probably all be moving soon. We'll have to move to CUSA just to keep the same teams on our schedule.
Mobile is a city that will get the chance to live up to her potentials in due time. South Alabama is a very attractive school. With all the developements going on campus and the academics are rising very fast. So both, City and College should market each other more on every level possible. Remember, we do live in a desirable market.
San Diego State officially staying in the MWC. How much longer can the Big East survive?
"It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything." -Tyler Durden
If SD St., Boise St and the C7 schools, they could have all voted to dissolve the Big East, which would have been beneficial to all of them.
HA! We started football four decades late at USA.
JAG FAN SINCE <><>
An App St fan did a Freedom of Information Act request for communications between the Sun Belt and Georgia State. Part of what he received was a list of schools that Karl Benson was examining.
It's long and no doubt includes several schools that are in the "use only in case of emergency" category.
New Mexico State
Sam Houston State
Here's the link:
I am excited about the thought of adding App State to the conference. I feel they are a step up from the four schools who bolted for CUSA. This would be a great road trip to a beautiful part of the country. Lastly, they avg nearly 30k per game which would make it one of the best atmospheres in the SB.
Is NMSU headed to CUSA? App and Ga Southern are the only other names I have any interest in whatsoever, unless it it is Idaho as football only. The only reason I say that is because they were at least already FBS. The future of the SB looks pretty bleak. I really wish the BE would die.
I think the negative on NMSU was the travel having to go to New Mexico to play non-revenue sports. We can always take the route of the Golden Eagles of years ago and go independent....
If WKU goes to CUSA, it looks like that will force UAB into the western division. Bad news for them as they will have no nearby rivals.
I believe the reason USA hasn't gotten any serious looks from any CUSA (or anyone else) is that we don't have an advocate within the conference. FIU pleaded for FAU, UAB pleaded for MTSU and I think WKU is getting in because MTSU campaigned for them. USM, UAB, etc would prefer we not be invited and so at the very least they do nothing to help and at the most they work against us.
