Not sure if it's been addressed, but will South get any cut from the bowls featuring SBC teams?
For the Red, White, & Blue: Go Jags!
The way the bowls are set up, the net revenue will be pretty small, if there's any at all.
We wouldn't get a cut of any profits this year because we are not full members yet. Next season marks the first year we get TV and bowl revenue.
I heard that our football budget would increase every year for several years. Is that still the case? We are already towards the top in FB budget and if we add TV/conference money then does that mean we can increase our budget even more? After the Sun Belt departures and additions we will already have the highest budget in the Sun Belt.
I'm not sure when we'll max out, but next year is when we start getting paycheck games plus the TV/bowl money, so I imagine that's when we'll start getting close.
Concerning our budget, I remember our coaches were promised that they would always be at or near the top in salary in the conference. I think we have fallen behind by quite a bit, but the departing teams have some of the highest paid coaches, so our staff may be closer to top without getting any raises. Nevertheless, I think they are in line for an increase so maybe the new money will go towards that.
We didn't get paid by Mississippi State this year or NC State the past two?
It might be that we got "FCS" type money instead of "FBS" type money. I think we are getting like 900K to play at Tennessee next year.
Those games were part of a 2-1 deal so the payout for visiting them was around $250,000 per game. The one-off games against Tennessee, UGA, Nebraska, etc will pay in the neighborhood of $900,000 per game.
