Former Wildcat Becomes a Jaguar

South Alabama's mid-year recruiting goals were simple: restock the defense on all three levels and find a playmaking tight end to pair with All-SBC Wes Saxton. First they gained the commitment of Nigel Green, a three-star safety from Mississippi Gulf Coast CC, this past summer. Then they added JUCO All-Americans DE Jimmie Gipson of East Mississippi CC and TE Braedon Bowman of Scottsdale CC just a few days ago. And now they have added another piece to the puzzle with the addition of linebacker Demarius Rancifer of Pearl River CC.

Rancifer began his college career at Kentucky after earning three-star status at Pensacola Catholic High School. After a redshirt year and one year as a special teams player, Rancifer decided to transfer after the hiring of Mike Stoops to replace Joker Phillips.

His one season at Pearl River was a successful one as he was named first-team All-MACJC South Division by racking up 81 tackles, one sack, four quarterback pressures, six tackles for a loss and two pass break ups.

Rancifer's addition is a key one as USA prepares to lose seniors Enrique Williams, Clifton Crews and Bryson James.
