South Alabama's torrid pace continues as they added yet another player to the 2014 commitment list. Marice Fluellen's pledge makes the fifth commitment in the last 10 days for the Jags.
Fluellen is a 6-0 175lb cornerback from Northview HS in Dothan, AL, where he registered 27 tackles, 5 pass breakups, 2 interceptions, 1 sack and returned a fumble for a touchdown.
He chose South Alabama over offers from Memphis and South Dakota State for one particular reason.
"I mainly chose South Alabama because of the coach that was recruiting me, Coach (Travis) Pearson," said Fluellen. "He was real cool and told me how I would fit in with them. We just had a good connection."
Surprisingly, Fluellen made his commitment without having seen the USA campus and facilities, elements that never fail to impress visiting recruits. He will rectify that with a visit this weekend which will undoubtedly reinforce his commitment.
Fluellen is the second cornerback prospect to commit to South Alabama so far, showing their efforts to prepare for the graduation of several starters is well underway.
